Application Process and Procedural Notices: All documentation may be submitted electronically-only and should be uploaded to the applicant portal; applicants should retain original, hardcopy documentation – applicants DO NOT need to mail original hardcopies to the Office. Documentation DOES need to be notarized where indicated on a document.

Applicant Agreement: You must complete the MANDATORY Exam Applicant Agreement by December 3, 2023.

Law School Documentation: When communicating with your law school regarding the Law School Graduation Certification and Law School Application, please direct them to the law school portal so they may upload your documentation electronically, rather than having to mail the documents to our Office. The law school portal is located here. This portal is for law school representatives only.

Attorneys admitted in another U.S. jurisdiction: Colorado no longer requires admission in a reciprocal U.S. jurisdiction. If you are admitted by examination in another U.S. jurisdiction, graduated from an ABA-accredited law school, have been engaged in the authorized, active practice of law for at least 36 months of the 60 months preceding submission of your application, and are in good standing, please see the directions for On Motion admission here.

Please note that if you have never taken a bar examination for admission to practice law in the U.S., you do not qualify for admission On Motion; please email bleinfo@csc.state.co.us if you have any questions and need further guidance.

Foreign Law School Graduates: You must be pre-authorized to apply for the Colorado bar exam. Please review the instructions for Foreign Law School Graduates on the procedures. Documentation may be submitted electronically, but hardcopy originals must be made available for review if requested. Please email our office at bleinfo@csc.state.co.us when you are prepared to submit your information for further guidance. Please do not email confidential documentation; our Office will provide a secure method for documentation to be submitted electronically.
